FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
What is the competitive swim schedule?
We are an all-year-round, USA Swimming age-group program.
USA Swimming has a Summer Season and a Winter Season.
Our team has 3 Training Sessions over the course of the year:
Summer Session is mid-April thru the end of July (the team is off from mid-Aug -thru- mid-Sept)
Fall Session is mid-Sept thru mid-Jan
Winter Session is mid-Jan thru mid-April
Do I have to compete in swim meets?
No. We are a community-based program that takes everyone! We have many swimmers who enjoy the training and camaraderie of the team, but never or rarely compete. We also have swimmers who are among the best in the state, who are always training to qualify for the next level meet.
We do encourage everyone to attend our home meets; they are friendly and fun! Our team is also a member of the Western Slope Swimming League, which offers smaller fun meets on the Western Slope. Once your swimmer advances, they can also compete at the state level and beyond.
How do I sign up for the meets?
At the start of the Training Session, you can find a list of “Meets & Events” on our SportsEngine website. You can click to “Attend or Decline,” under each meet. Each meet has a registration deadline. As the meet comes closer, all meet details (entries, warm-up schedule, etc.) are posted on the Website under “Forms and Documents”.
FYI: It’s best to let coaches put your swimmer in individual races. You can leave coaches a note in the “Notes” box. Coaches see those during the entry process. For example: in “Notes” you can indicate which days you plan on attending, or what events you want to swim. Coaches consider many factors: sickness or injuries, need to challenge a swimmer, how much rest there will be between races, particularly before their best races. As a rule, we sign the swimmers up for many races at the start of the season, and fewer races later in the season (as they try to qualify for champs).
How do I contact the Coaches?
The best form of communication is email at [email protected]
What do I check if I’m not receiving Team Emails?
First go to your team account and see what email you listed when you signed up for the team. That is the only email the system will use for Team emails and notices. If you missed opening a couple of Team emails, check your spam or promotions folders.
How do swimmers advance through the groups?
Coaches decide and they consider many factors and this is a decision that is left up to the coaches.
