Additional Costs
Other costs associated with the Swim Team are at the expense of the swimmer/family. Membership to the ARC pool and facilities outside of scheduled swim practices and meets is not included in your dues. To access the pool outside of scheduled practices or meets you will need to purchase an annual membership or punch pass to the ARC.
Scholarship Options
The team may offer scholarships for those for whom the session dues may be a burden. Scholarships are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and must be applied for each session. Please see the scholarship page on our website for more information. Recipients of scholarships are expected to work all home meets and participate in fundraising events as well as regularly attend practices.
Parent Volunteer Requirements
Home Meets: All parents are required to help during the team's two home meets. Jobs include timers, announcers, safety marshals, and hospitality positions; no previous experience is required for most jobs.
Swim Your Aspen Off and other fundraisers: The swim team requires parent assistance for the team's annual fundraiser, "Swim Your Aspen Off" as lap counters and to facilitate the team dinner and prizes for swimmers. The fundraiser will occur during a regularly scheduled practice in late November or early December.
Officiating: The team needs more officials! Parents may choose the meets at which to officiate based on the meets their swimmers will attend. The team and Colorado Swimming will provide training for all interested parents. Officiating at home meets is a requirement. Parents who serve as officials may be eligible for a reduction in club dues, see the officials policy for more information. If you are interested in becoming an official, contact us.
Team Operating Costs
The Aspen Swim Club functions as a "doing business as" (dba) operation under the actual registered name of the Aspen Swim Club, a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation. Fees are paid to the Club on a seasonal basis. The Club, in turn, pays the coaching expenses, pool fees, insurance and other team operating costs. Fundraising and grants are also critical to our operating budget.
